Casoual Games is run by one person — Christophe, a French developer — who designs, codes, draws and ships every game on this site.
How the games are made
Every game here is a single hand-written HTML file: no engine, no framework, no build step. The rendering is plain canvas, the sounds are synthesised in the browser, and a game loads in about a second because there is nothing to load. That constraint is the studio's whole method — a game small enough for one person to hold entirely in their head tends to stay fast, focused and fun.
Nothing requires an account. Leaderboards work with just a nickname, progress stays on your device, and every solo mode runs offline once loaded.
The Pause app
The games are also bundled into Pause, a free Android app — twelve games in one small download, fully playable offline. The name says what it is for: a pause of two quiet minutes.
Guides and rules
Alongside the games, the studio writes guides about the classic mechanics behind them — the rules of blackball and belote coinchée, the history of Snake, how nonograms and polyominoes work. They are checked against the actual game engines: what the page says is what the code does.
